What could be done with a former Fire Station building for the enjoyment of a large community?
If you can come up with a viable answer, it could make you plenty of money and provide you and your team with civic recognition over the next few years. It seems that the City of Des Moines is looking to make that happen. However, all they have done to alert potential investors outside of Des Moines (as far as I know at press time) is post an RFP on the City website. I can understand local officials wanting it to be a local citizen or investor group which successfully bids and acquires the former fire station property.
However, from where I sit, they are severely limiting their possibilities. This offering is an opportunity to attract investors from all over, while calling attention to the area. Doing so might get some real estate investors and developers to look at other properties which may be offered by the City in the future. I’m not here to promote Des Moines or this investment opportunity. My purpose is to point out what having a research person or team on your side could do for the future of your business, whether an investor, developer, broker, or lender.
You could attract attention by pointing out that you have a bidding opportunity for a fire station property which could become a community center or serve the community while generating a profit from a unique opportunity. Doing so could lead to future opportunities from current, future, and potential clients or associates.
