Marketing Full-Time Status All of the Time

It is understandable that, given the challenges of today’s real estate market, many agents are not able to survive without a side hustle or another job. The below linked article shows that it has already grown to more than 70% of licensed real estate professionals are already doing something besides real estate.

As I see it from a real estate marketing standpoint, this should be a golden opportunity for the more than 25% who continue to do real estate full-time. Look at how much of the marketing and advertising we all see throughout the day is based on timing or something which has just happened. Examples range from “Now that the weather is warmer, it’s time to…..” to “The 2027 models will be out next month Get a great deal on the 2026 models now!”

The true full-time real estate professionals should be all over that the majority of their colleagues are no longer full-time. Why would a potential seller (residential or commercial) want to hire an agent that has limited availability? Or that has another priority “today”?

Those who are full-time should be promoting that fact anywhere and everywhere, and in some cases ahead of their specialty and capabilities. They should be raising the point that they are available all day every day as a priority instead of having to “call you back after my work hours”. “If you are looking at a six-figure transaction, you should be looking to hire someone involved on a full-time basis for the same price.”

There is one more serious question here. Real estate professionals should not point this out on social media or in marketing materials, but can and should raise the question while talking with people since it is to their advantage. Some (if not many) of those were full-time in real estate, often for many years.

With all due respect, I would question, in conversations, how a potential seller or buyer could hire an agent with years of experience that is now part-time. If their expertise is in real estate, why don’t they have their own real estate investments to provide the “extra” income?

They shouldn’t need to get a part-time or full-time job to supplement their real estate income. Sorry, but this element is a part of marketing. Think back to years ago when Burger King did the “Have it your way!” campaign. It was an attack on McDonalds selling you burgers with everything on it.

Pointing out the benefits of hiring a full-time agent is taking the Burger King approach. As a seller or buyer, you can have it “your way” by getting a full-time person instead of someone with other priorities this month.

Giving potential clients as many reasons as possible to choose you and your services is what it takes to be “first in” on more opportunities. Let’s talk!
